Most taxi licensing authorities will usually expect an operator to hold a minimum of £2million public liability insurance cover and if your mini cab base employs staff then by law you also are required to hold the Employers Liability Insurance cover – this is neatly packaged within a specific Taxi / Minicab Office and incorporates all of the features above and within the same cost as public laibility insurance policy on its own.

Also available is public liability insurance ‘away from the vehicle’ for taxi and private hire drivers that undertake health authority and school contracts. This is separate from liability cover other than required under the Road Traffic Act and forms part of your motor insurance. Cover can be arranged for individual vehicles or on a fleet basis. Remember, employers liability Insurance is the only compulsory insurance requirement by law other than motor insurance but is usually just as expensive to but this cover on its own as a complete package.
