The UK is preparing for strong winds and heavy rain after the Met Office issued weather warnings across the Midlands, South-West and South-East England and Wales.
Flood warnings have been issued for Wales and Southern England, and winds of up to 65mph are possible along the South Wales coast, the Bristol channel and the South Coast of England. Further inland wind speed could reach 40-50mph. BBC weather have reported one gust of wind at 82mph off the western tip of the Isle of Wight.
Charlie Powell, spokesman for the Met Office stated “It is possible there could be up to three inches of rain in hilly and mountainous areas of Wales, with lower but still substantial rainfall in more low-lying areas.”
Due to the disruption caused by the high winds and rain, a number of events and services have been cancelled, and ferry services to the Isle of Wight and Channel Islands have been suspended.
Forecasters have warned of the possibility of disruption, including falling trees, so now might be a good time to ensure you know where your documents are for your home insurance or office insurance.
